ADMISSIONS

The core of University of the People is our students—no matter where they are from, who they are or why they chose this educational experience. And among all the differences, our students share common goals: to become leaders, to make a difference, to succeed in academia and to create a better life, community and world.

University of the People offers an educational opportunity that gives students the essential tools to start, change or advance their careers. We don’t simply offer high-level, relevant programs in a flexible online format, but the building blocks to success.

University of the People empowers its students, and we hope to empower you too.

University of the People makes tuition-free online learning a reality for students around the world. UoPeople provides access to structured, tuition-free online degree programs in Business Administration and Computer Science .  UoPeople accepts qualified applicants who have graduated high school, have access to a computer and the Internet and have sufficient English skills to complete the English-only courses.

Of course, tuition free online learning is not instant. It is a process. Social networking and helping each other is a big part of the UoPeople credo.  Students are required to fully participate in discussions and answer questions posed by the faculty and other students in their groups and forums.

How can UoPeople provide tuition-free learning?

UoPeople is able to effectively function on a limited budget without sacrificing quality of education by using a collaborative learning model and harnessing open source technology, OER (open educational resources), and the contribution of volunteers from around the world. UoPeople embraces peer-to-peer learning with the support of Instructors to make the best use of its student body from around the world. Within online study communities, students  share resources, exchange ideas, discuss weekly topics, submit assignments and take exams. The tuition-free online learning programs are supported by respected scholars.

A community of educators, comprised of active and retired professors  (and other professionals), participate in the educational activity. These educators and scholars also take part in developing the ongoing procedures for curriculum evaluation and improvement, based on the latest developments in tuition-free learning, OER and open source technology.

UoPeople offers tuition-free education, and presently charges only a nominal Application Processing Fee of between $10-$50 that is adjusted on sliding scale based on the economic situation in each applicant’s country or place of residence. In the future, UoPeople plans to implement Exam Processing Fees of between $10-$100 that will operate on the same sliding scaled as the Application Processing Fee.
