University of the People, as a non-profit academic institution dedicated to opening access to higher education worldwide, works very hard to ensure that financial limitations are not a barrier for any qualified student to study. Although UoPeople has managed to succeed in cutting down almost the entire cost of higher education, some students cannot afford the nominal Exam Processing Fees charged. As such, the University has created mechanisms to help students in need; including a newly launched Micro-Scholarship Portal - the first of its kind at any University; designated student scholarship funds; and a General Scholarship Fund.
The Micro-Scholarship Portal combines many small donations from individuals to provide a full scholarship for a student. Even the smallest donation can make a big difference in a student's opportunity to earn a degree and support a life for themselves and their family.
