General Application Information Welcome to your gateway to a higher education - tuition-free. In just a few short steps you will begin the application process to become a student at University of the People.
The admissions application process consists of two parts: Part 1 takes place online and Part 2, beginning after completion of part 1, takes place offline, and consists of sending all of the required documents to our Office of Admissions by post.
Part 1 - The Online Application Process Please enter all text in English throughout the entire application process. The online process,takes place for about 30 minutes and must be completed in one session.
This session includes: * Filling in the online application form * Reading and signing the disclaimer form * Writing an essay * Submitting an electronic signature
Before you begin:
* Have 30 uninterrupted minutes available * Have a pen and paper to take notes * Have your personal information ready * We recommend you connect your computer to a printer (If you don't have a printer, you will be able to save the documents and print them out later)
The online Application process includes answering five out of the seven following questions in 70-100 words each:
1. Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence. 2. How would you maximize your fellow students experience at UoPeople? 3. What led you to select your program (Computer Science or Business Administration) at University of the People? 4. Describe an incident which led you to challenge yourself (academically, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually or physically). 5. Please finish this statement: “When I think of Online Education I think…”. 6. Tell UoPeople a little bit about your village, city, region or country and what makes it unique. 7. What makes YOU unique?
We recommend writing the essay in advance in a "Word" document and then copying and pasting the essay into the text body of the online application form,
Part 2 Part 2 takes place offline and consists of sending all of the required documents to our Office of Admissions by post. You will get all the details relating to this part by e-mail once you have finished the online application process. Each application is thoroughly reviewed by our staff and supervised by the Admissions Committee. The criteria for acceptance include the availability of a place in the program chosen by the applicant and the judgment of university staff as to the ability of the applicant to successfully complete the program. The university is not obligated to accept all applicants.
After being accepted, all applicants must participate in the two orientation courses and receive a grade of “Satisfactory” on both courses as a pre-requisite to continuing their studies at University of the People.
Applicants interested in any further information are invited to contact our Office of Admissions at admissions@uopeople.org and are kindly asked to refrain from calling the office. The University will respond with a final answer to your application for Term 3 by January 14, 2010. If you have not received an answer by January 14, 2010, please contact our Office of Admissions.
