DR. Y.S. RAJAN

A well-recognized authority in the field of technology development and business management in India, Dr. Y.S. Rajan is Principal Adviser, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and best known for co-authoring a best-selling book with India’s former President Abdul Kalam: INDIA 2020: A Vision for the New Millennium.

 

Dr. Rajan has a great deal of international experience, including cooperative projects between countries, leading Indian delegation to UN, and visits to more than 35 countries.  He has also served as Adjunct Professor, BITS, Pilani, (India) Birla Institute of Technology & Science; Vice President, DAV College Managing Committee (All India); Member Governing Council, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, (New Delhi); Member Governing Council, North-Eastern Hill University, (Shillong); Member of the Executive Council of the Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi) and advisor to a number of other institutions. 

 

Dr. Rajan’s technology expertise includes environmentally sound technologies, satellite meteorology mapping systems and matters related to Intellectual Property Rights. He has done special assignments for UN organizations such as UNIDO, WIPO and UNEP. Dr. Rajan is also actively involved in evolving policies and procedures related to adopting IPR laws in India to the post WTO/TRIP situation and also in preparing Indian industry and institutions to master IPR issues.

 

In addition to INDIA 2020: A Vision for the New Millennium, Dr. Rajan has authored and co-authored a number of books—including five books of poetry—as well as articles in Indian and international publications. 

 

A degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) was conferred on Dr. Rajan by Jain Vishva Bharati Institute in recognition of his dedication to humanity, human values, creativity and literature in the presence of H.E. the President of India in 2005. He has also been awarded ‘Punjab Ratan-2003’ by All India Conference of Intellectuals.

 

Dr. Rajan is a fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineers and a member of the International  Aeronautical Academy.
